The inaugural 1977 British motorcycle Grand Prix, the first motorcycle grand prix to be held on the British mainland, took place at the Silverstone Circuit.
From 1988 to 2009 the World Championship racing moved to Donington Park, but returned to Silverstone in 2010 after the 23 years break.
